If the year in 260$c differs from the year in 260$g, use 008/06 date type "r", 008/07-10 date one the year from 260$c, and 008/11-14 date two the year from 260$g (current year always).

Incomplete 040s:

  • If 040 $a and $c are both missing, or if 040 is present but incomplete, apply the following conventions so as to be able to add the 040 $d when we edit the record:
  • · if 040 $a and $c are both missing, enter "XX-XxUND" (the MARC code for 'undetermined') in both subfields: 040 $aXX-XxUND$cXX-XxUND$dDLC

  • · Any OCLC 090 or 092 call numbers are changed to 050 4 and 082 4.

Add 055s for:
  • · Canadian author lacking an 055 PR 8000 number,
  • · common law country (usually Canadian in KE),
  • · Canadian history,
    • · Charge as for adding 060.

For KF modified, use, KF (U.S. law) via ClassWeb.
 
  • · If from LCC tables, change to 050 2nd indicator 4, adding a period after $b.
  • · If number is from a companion schedule, 2nd indicator 8 and $2 with code of schedule, e.g., $2moys, $2kfmod, $2fcps (for FC and PS 8000) and leave in 055.
  • · Delete all 055s which duplicate class numbers in 050.
  • · The only 055s in the record should be FC, KF, and PS8000, or other schedules such as Moys, identified in $2.

 

060 - NLM classification for medical materials

  • $a - Classification number and any imbedded cutters (Letters, space, number, period, embedded Cutter)
  • $b - Final Cutter (Letter, 2 numbers, lower case first letter of title, year

  • NOTE:  NLM uses Cutter-Sanborn table which differs from LC/SLC Cutter table. Leave C-S cutters in complete 060s, provide LC/SCL Cutters for completed or supplied 060s.
  • Continue to use the NLC table for georgraphic Cutters
