  • 020 addition for the print version = (version imprimée) or simply (imprimée)
  • 040$bfre is only used when the 110/710 forms are French.

    For Cuttering purposes, assume the English is the original, except for Quebec publications
For an English pub. translated into French add 14 to end of Cutter
For a French pub. translated into English add 13
  • Access points:

 - entries (1XX/7XX//830) in English,

 - French equivalents of English headings (when they exist in LC Authorities) are moved to 9XX.

 

 - If there is no English form of the 110/710, leave the French form in 110/710 as opposed to moving it to 9XX, and leave or insert 040$bfre.
  • 240 - do not use a 240 uniform title.

  • Sometimes the French version is an abbreviated form of the Englishm
e,g,, just the introduction and summary.  In that case:
In the French abbreviated version:

In the English full version:

 - transcribed in 490 1, with the English form (if there is one) in 830, and the French in 983

 - If no established English form, the French form goes in 440 (or 490 1/830 if traced form differs from the transcribed one.)

 - If both are on the item transcribe both in 490 1, French first with "=" as parallel titles; enter the English in 830, the French in 983.

 - For series not established by LC or LAC, accept the form as on the item.
  • 5XX notes in French as found in Amicus derived records are preferred, on the assumption that if patrons can read the text, they can read the notes.

Note that 910 is used for the French form of both 110, and 710.
